Drennan AS Carp 1 – sensitive float for wary F1s and smaller carp

The Drennan AS Carp 1 is the fine pencil model in the AS Carp series. Its slim body offers minimal resistance when a cautious F1 or smaller carp takes the bait. This makes this float particularly suitable for subtle presentations on commercial fisheries, where clear yet sensitive bite indication is needed.

The carbon stem keeps the rig light and helps present the bait naturally. The buoyant balsa body is finished with a durable lacquer coating, while the micro-wrapped eye provides reliable line attachment. At the top is an interchangeable 1.5 mm Hi-Viz antenna, allowing you to adjust the contrast to the light and background.

The AS Carp series was developed together with five-time world champion Alan Scotthorne and is hand-assembled in Drennan's own factories. For a different antenna colour or a spare, suitable Drennan Hi-Viz Pole Float Tips are available. Securely attach the float to the line with suitable float silicone.

Frequently asked questions about the Drennan AS Carp 1

When should I choose the AS Carp 1 instead of the AS Carp 2?
The AS Carp 1 is the finer pencil model for wary bites and subtle presentations. The AS Carp 2 is more versatile as an all-round float when you want to combine greater stability and strength.

What is the advantage of the carbon stem?
Carbon is lightweight and shape-retaining. This keeps the rig refined and allows the bait to be presented naturally, while the float creates minimal additional resistance.

Why is the antenna interchangeable?
With a different Hi-Viz antenna, you can adjust the contrast to changing light conditions or a different background. This keeps delicate bite indication clearly visible.
