50:50 Method Paste 2kg – Method Groundbait and Paste

Sonubaits 50:50 Method & Paste is a high-protein groundbait based on fishmeal and ground pellets. The mix is sticky, dense and can be firmly compressed around a Method feeder. This helps the groundbait stay in place during casting, impact and sinking, even in deeper water or when fish knock against the feeder.

The same groundbait can be mixed with extra water to create Paste for pole fishing. This allows you to fish both the Method feeder and a Paste presentation using the same base during a single session. The strong fishmeal base is primarily aimed at bream, carp and other larger coarse fish in commercial and natural waters.

Preparing for the Method feeder

Pour the entire bag into a round groundbait bucket and add approximately two UK pints of water, around 1.1 to 1.2 litres. Mix thoroughly and leave the groundbait to rest for 30 minutes, allowing all particles to absorb the water. Then pass the mix through a groundbait riddle for an even consistency. In sun or wind, cover the mixed groundbait with a damp cloth; if it does dry out, add only a small amount of water and mix again.

Using as Paste

Set aside a portion of the mixed groundbait and gradually add extra water until the desired kneadability is achieved. Do not make the Paste wetter than necessary: it should mould smoothly around the hook and stay in place when lowering in or casting out.

Why should the mix rest for 30 minutes?
The ground pellets and fishmeal particles need time to absorb the water evenly. After resting, you can assess the final moisture level more accurately and achieve a more stable mix.

When should I choose this groundbait over a lighter Method mix?
The firm binding is useful for long casts, deeper water or when fish try to knock the groundbait off the feeder before taking the hookbait.

Can I use the same preparation for Method and Paste?
Yes. First prepare the base mix for the Method feeder, then further moisten a separate portion if you want to make Paste from it. This keeps the rest of the groundbait at the correct consistency.
