Drennan AS 4 Pole Float (10 Pieces) - Bobber

The Drennan AS 4 Pole Float is perfect for depths up to 4ft (1.2 m). The substantial hollow glow tip with a diameter of 2 mm is thick enough to support larger bait and buoyant enough to allow the angler to 'read' the difference between good bites and liners.

It is produced in-house by our own engineers with many months of fine-tuning using the most up-to-date and advanced computer-controlled processes and machines currently available, resulting in a beautifully consistent and reliable float. Alan has extensively used AS4's and is very pleased with them, commenting on their remarkable consistency and build quality.

The Drennan AS 4 Pole Float is made from a very buoyant, lightweight balsa and then receives a special coating of our super-touch acrylic paint that gives each bobber a protective, shell-like finish. Combine this with a strong carbon stem that is bound straight into the body and a stainless steel spring eye at the base of the hollow tip, and all this contributes to a very strong and durable float that won’t let you down.

With its more substantial body-down design and 2mm hollow tip, it is the perfect float for catching larger carp with big hookbaits such as pellets, corn, meat, and worms. A beauty of the larger 2mm glow tip is that the float is extremely visible, even when spotted down at long range.

This versatile float is ideal for many situations, whether fishing shallow in the lighter sizes or drifting bait tight to marginal in winter. It is also an exceptional design for margin fishing and short-pole peg situations!

Glow tips on AS pole floats are reinforced at the section where they join the body. This strengthens the hollow glow tip at a critical point and provides an extra-strong base for the eye.

AS floats also have a double-wound stainless steel eye mounted at the base of the tip. Placing it here offers the mechanically strongest position without piercing the body and risking water ingress, which would affect the float’s performance. Because it is double wound (i.e., the eye is fully round), this means the line cannot get pinched and damaged, as often happens with conventional, single-wound, U-shaped eyes. These special eyes are also made from blackened stainless steel to match the body, giving a clearer demarcation line to the glow tip, making bites easier to detect.
