Acolyte Ultra Float Rods – Waggler Rods

Please note: made-to-order variants have a delivery time of approximately one week.

The Drennan Acolyte Ultra Float Rods are high-quality float rods for anglers who want to combine maximum line and float control with exceptionally low weight. The ultra-slim high-modulus carbon blank is fast and crisp enough to pick up line instantly on the strike, while also featuring a soft tip that acts as a shock absorber when using fine hooklengths.

The balanced blank remains comfortable when holding the rod for extended periods. The range is suitable for waggler and stick float fishing on small lakes, commercial fisheries and rivers, targeting everything from silverfish to F1s and smaller carp. Pair the rod with a compact float reel and choose a suitable rig from our waggler collection. Current rod lengths and availability can be found in the product selector.

Frequently asked questions

Which rod length should I choose?
A shorter version is ideal for compact platforms, small ponds and swims with limited space. More length provides extra line control on flowing water, at deep swims or when you want to guide a float further from the rod tip. Choose according to your water and technique; current options are listed in the selector.

How light can I fish with the Acolyte Ultra?
The soft tip has been specifically developed to protect fine hooklengths. Drennan specifies light nylon main lines and very thin hooklengths for this range, but always match the diameter to the fish size, obstructions, hook size and chosen rod length.

When should I choose the Ultra instead of the Acolyte Plus?
The Ultra focuses on low weight, finesse and maximum float control with lighter lines. The Plus is the heavier option when you want to cast larger floats or more often expect bonus fish such as hard-fighting carp, tench and chub.
