The Drennan Acolyte Specimen Float Rods combine a slim, beautifully balanced blank with significantly more power in reserve than the Acolyte Plus models. They have been developed for targeted float fishing for larger fish, without losing the refinement needed for good line and float control.
The slightly stiffer, fast-responsive tip helps pick up line smoothly on the strike and keeps the float under better control, even at distance. Lower down the blank, the progressive semi-through action builds extra power for playing hard-fighting chub, tench, barbel and carp. At the same time, the tip action remains forgiving enough to fish with lighter hooklengths.

Frequently asked questions
What species is the Acolyte Specimen Float designed for?
The rod has been developed for larger, hard-fighting fish such as chub, tench, barbel and carp, but is also suitable for smaller fish with a balanced light hooklength.
What is the benefit of the fast tip section?
A fast tip picks up line more smoothly on the strike and gives more direct control over the float, especially when fishing further from the bank or in flowing water.
Can I fish with light hooklengths?
Yes. The progressive action helps absorb shocks. Drennan recommends a 3 to 7 lb main line; match the lighter hooklength to the target fish and conditions.
