Drennan International was founded in 1967 by its current Managing Director, Peter Drennan. He started by producing a modest range of balsa wood floats in his mother’s garage.
After sharpening his angling knowledge with some of the most respected anglers of the time, including Dick Walker, Peter Stone, the Taylor Brothers, and England’s first world champion, Bill Lane, the young Peter Drennan was soon recognized as a leading expert in fishing tackle.
With its talent for designing high-quality floats and the craftsmanship to make them, the modest garage business grew steadily.
Today, Drennan International supplies more than 2,500 individual products and items of tackle directly to shops from its headquarters in England. These shops are located throughout Great Britain, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, and beyond. In addition, the company has distributors in most other European countries.
Although all research and development still takes place in Great Britain, along with some of the more complex high-end manufacturing, the company now has six purpose-built factories outside Europe in economically competitive locations. This enables Drennan International to offer most of its tackle at prices comparable to Chinese products, but with superior designs and significantly higher build quality.
Drennan International has a strong focus on engineering, from Computer Aided Design (CAD) and toolmaking to high-quality plastics processing and the development of its own purpose-built production machinery. The company has expert anglers in key roles across all aspects of product design, manufacturing, packaging, quality control, and customer service.
Drennan’s core principle has always been that every product must offer excellent value for money, be trouble-free, and help anglers succeed in catching fish.
