Method feeder fishing is one of the most popular techniques used by modern match anglers.

This means the fish have probably been caught on it several times already and may therefore be a bit wary or, in some lakes, have changed the way they feed.

This was noticed by Des Shipp when he kept getting taps on the Method. But they didn’t turn into good bites. This is because the fish were hitting all the groundbait from the feeder without touching the hook bait. So the hook bait was left effectively behind without bait around it. Which defeats the purpose of fishing with a Method feeder.

So we decided to make a groundbait that is stickier, harder, denser, and easy to compress on a Method feeder for locations where this happens.

50:50 Method & Paste Green has a very high protein content derived from fishmeal and ground pellets. And this helps it to compact on a Method feeder. This means it easily withstands the impact of casting, hitting the water, falling through the water, and any small taps from fish trying to knock the groundbait away.

It is also for this reason that it has gained a large following for Method feeder fishing in deep water.
50:50 Method Paste Green is a rich dark green color perfectly suited for commercial fishing.

It is not just bait for the method, as the name suggests. The high fishmeal content makes it excellent for making a paste for pole fishing by simply adding more water if you prefer a really sloppy paste. Keep adding water until the desired consistency is reached.

Des Shipp (England International) says: “50:50 is my go-to groundbait in deeper water, especially when targeting bream and odd carp. The strong fishmeal smell seems to hold the fish in the peg for ages. With the original green version being a particular favorite of mine in slightly clearer water.

MIXING GUIDELINES

Sonubaits 50:50 Method & Paste Green is easy to mix. Pour the 2 kg groundbait bag into a round mixing bucket, fill a 2-pint maggot tub with water. Pour this onto the groundbait and mix well, then let it rest for 30 minutes. During this time the water will be absorbed into the groundbait.

Then for best results, to remove any lumps and create an even consistency, pass the groundbait through a sieve and it’s ready to use.

When fishing, sun and wind can dry out the groundbait a little; to counter this you can cover the mixed groundbait with a damp towel or if it dries out just add a little more water and mix again.
