Pellet Pump

With the Ringers Pellet Pump, you can prepare floating expander pellets as soft, sinking hook bait. The pump removes air from the porous pellet, allowing water or a liquid flavour to fill the released space. This gives you an evenly prepared pellet that is soft enough for a natural presentation, yet firm enough to place carefully on the hook.

The compact pump has its own reservoir and is easy to take to the waterside. As you prepare a manageable quantity at a time, you do not need to prepare more bait than you need during your session. A suitable pellet to prepare with this pump is the Alltech Coppens Match RS Expander Pellet.

How do you use the Ringers Pellet Pump?

1. Place a small quantity of expander pellets in the reservoir and add sufficient water or diluted flavour.
2. Seal the pump securely and pull the plunger upwards to create a vacuum.
3. Allow the air to escape from the pellets, then release the vacuum so the liquid is drawn into the pellets.
4. Repeat if necessary and check in water whether the pellets sink.
5. Allow the pellets to rest briefly and keep them moist until use.

Frequently asked questions

Why does vacuum pumping make expander pellets sink?

Expander pellets contain air. The pump removes this air from the pellet; when the vacuum is released, the space is filled with water or flavour. This adds weight to the pellet and makes it sink.

How many pellets should I prepare at once?

Do not fill the reservoir completely. The pellets need space to come into contact with liquid all around and release air. A small portion generally produces the most even result.

Can I use flavour instead of just water?

Yes, a suitable liquid flavour can be used with or diluted in water. Always follow the flavour dosage instructions so the bait does not become unnecessarily strong or sticky.
