The Preston Monster XS Carp Feeder Rods have been developed for modern feeder fishing on commercial fisheries. The slim carbon blanks respond immediately when casting and bend progressively during the fight. Within the range, you choose not only a rod length, but also the casting weight and action that suit your fishing distance, feeder and expected fish.
Which version suits your fishing?
The gram rating in the model name is the casting weight specified by Preston.
Compact fishing at short range
The 7ft 30g is designed for very short distances, for example alongside an island on a narrow commercial fishery. Preston positions it for distances up to around 20 m. The blank consists of one section, but the feeder tip is removable. The 9ft 30g has a two-piece construction and is intended for distances up to approximately 25 m, with a Method Feeder, Pellet Feeder or bomb-and-pellet setup.
All-round Method and pellet feeder fishing
The 10ft 35g is the all-round choice for the same techniques at around 30 to 35 m. With the 11ft 45g, Preston targets greater range, beyond 35 m. For this version, the manufacturer also specifies larger Minima-style guides.
Extra casting power or greater range
The 11ft 75g has extra blank power for larger feeders and bigger carp, with applications beyond 40 m. The 12ft 80g is the most powerful model in this range and is intended for heavy Method setups and large carp. For fishing further out with a lower casting weight, there is the 12ft 50g: Preston specifies distances beyond 45 m as well as fishing for bream, including smaller specimens on mixed fisheries.
These distances are usage indications from Preston, not guaranteed casting ranges. Your setup and the conditions at the water remain decisive.

The 9ft, 10ft and 11ft rods have two sections; the 12ft models have three. The shortest rod therefore does not automatically have the shortest transport length: the 7ft retains its continuous blank.

Three feeder tips with every rod
The oz rating indicates the tip strength, not the rod's casting weight. The supplied tip strengths are matched to each version:
- 7ft 30g and 9ft 30g: 0.75 / 1 / 1.5 oz.
- 10ft 35g and 11ft 45g: 1 / 1.5 / 2 oz.
- 11ft 75g and 12ft 80g: 2 / 2.5 / 3 oz.
- 12ft 50g: 1.5 / 2 / 2.5 oz.
A suitable nylon main line
For a sinking nylon main line, you can use Preston Reflo Sinking Feeder Mono. Preston developed this line for feeder fishing, including Method Feeder fishing for carp. Choose the diameter to suit your setup and the conditions.
