The Preston Inception is a compact reel for waggler and feeder fishing. The impact-resistant graphite body keeps the weight down. Which reel size suits you best mainly depends on your fishing distance and the way you fish.
Which Inception size suits your fishing?
The 320 is designed for light waggler setups and shorter casts of up to around 40 metres. The 420 is the all-round choice for a wide range of applications, from feeder fishing on commercial fisheries to waggler fishing on natural waters. For feeder fishing at around 60 to 80 metres, Preston recommends the 520. These distance indications help you choose a size; your rod, rig and conditions naturally also determine the distance you can reach.
The difference is also in the line retrieve: the 320 retrieves 75 cm of line per handle turn, the 420 85 cm and the 520 95 cm. A higher line retrieve is useful when you need to retrieve a rig over a longer distance. All three use the same 5.0:1 gear ratio and 4+1 bearings.
Operation and finish
The micro-adjustable front drag allows you to fine-tune the resistance accurately during the fight. The reel has a single handle and a smooth-running gear system. The metal line clip helps you mark a chosen fishing distance, giving you a fixed reference point for repeated casts.

For balance with your rod, reel weights are relevant: the 320 weighs 294 g, the 420 370 g and the 520 371 g.
Choosing a suitable spare spool
A separate Inception spare spool allows you to pre-load a different line and change spools. Choose the size that matches your Inception reel. A spare spool is a separate component, not a complete reel, so make sure to distinguish between the reel and the separate spool when making your choice.
Match the line to your fishing
For feeder fishing, Reflo Sinking Feeder Mono is a fast-sinking nylon main line. If you fish with a waggler, Reflo Float Max is designed for this type of float fishing. This allows you to match the line on the spool to the technique for which you use the Inception.
