F1 Maggot Pole Rigs

The Preston F1 Maggot Pole Rig is a ready-made rig for targeted fishing for F1 carp and other coarse fish using maggots, casters, worms and small baits. The rig is three metres long and constructed with Reflo Power line, an F1 Maggot float and a size 16 GPM-B hook.

The float has a highly visible 1.5 mm hollow tip antenna and a carbon stem. This combination provides sufficient visibility for subtle bites and stability during presentation. The Stotz are distributed along the lower section of the rig so that the bait sinks in a controlled manner through the final approximately 45 cm of the water column. This allows you to capitalise on bites as the bait sinks.

The 0.13 mm hooklength provides a delicate presentation without making the rig unnecessarily vulnerable. This makes the F1 Maggot Pole Rig particularly useful on commercial fisheries, where F1s and other coarse fish often respond to natural bait falling gently through the lower water layer. The rig is ready to use and can be adjusted to the depth of your swim if required.

Frequently asked questions

What type of fishing is this rig intended for?

The rig was developed for pole fishing on commercial fisheries, with F1 carp as the main target species. It is also suitable for other coarse fish when you want to present small natural bait in a controlled way through the lower water layer.

Why are the Stotz distributed over the lower section?

The distribution slows the final stage of the descent. This keeps the bait moving naturally for longer in the lower approximately 45 cm, allowing you to register bites before the bait reaches its full depth.

What bait is suitable for the size 16 GPM-B hook?

Maggots, casters, small worms and similar small baits work well with this rig. Choose the amount and size of bait according to fish activity and the desired sinking speed.
