Preston Extremity SD Feeder Reel 520 – powerful feeder reel for accurate casting

The Preston Extremity SD Feeder Reel 520 has been developed for feeder anglers who regularly retrieve heavy feeders while still wanting to fish accurately at one or more distances. The extra-wide, machined aluminium spool reduces resistance as the line leaves the spool during the cast. Combined with the powerful worm-drive gearing system, this reel provides the stability and pulling power needed for intensive feeder fishing.

The Speed Drag system is one of the key improvements over the previous Extremity range. With around half a turn, you can change the drag from tight to free-running, allowing you to react quickly to a sudden run during the fight. The dual line clips allow you to set two distances, for example a close-in feeding spot and a second line further out. The CNC-machined handle with a soft rubber grip provides a secure, comfortable hold.

What are the two line clips used for?

With two clips, you can set two casting distances on the same spool. Only clip the line after measuring the correct distance with distance sticks, and point the rod slightly upwards during the cast so the blank and line absorb the impact on the clip in a controlled manner.

How do I use Speed Drag during the fight?

First set a safe base drag. When a fish suddenly needs to take line, carefully loosen the drag knob; the short adjustment range changes the resistance quickly. Practise this beforehand so you do not accidentally fully open or tighten the drag.

Is everything in the product selector a complete reel?
