The Preston Euro Match GX and GXM Poles are pole fishing rods for the competition angler who values stiffness and balance and wants to match the pole package to fishing distance and the desired fishing pace. The GX3 and GX2 offer a 13-metre pole package; the GXM focuses on a lightweight, stiff 10-metre pole. Not only do the poles differ: the number and type of supplied top kits also determine which package suits your fishing.
Carbon with graphene for stiffness and balance
The GX family combines high-modulus Japanese carbon with graphene. Preston uses this combination to bring together stiffness, strength and balance. The range has been developed with faster response and better balance than the previous Euro Match poles as its starting point.
Finish for smooth shipping
- Grey butt sections reduce heat absorption on sunny days; the smooth finish helps with shipping.
- Carbon-reinforced joints and protectors for sections 3, 4 and 5.
- Depth markings on the top kits, from the bottom section to the tip.
- Internal 3.5 mm PTFE bushes in the top kits.
- A PTFE/EVA guide in section 2 centres the Elastic when it runs through two sections.
Differences between the pole packages
GX3: the flagship model for the competition angler
The GX3 succeeds the Euro Match 3000. With this model, Preston focuses on a stiffer pole and improved balance, even with the mini-extension fitted. The extensive package with Match Top 4 kits is suitable when you want to have several prepared top kits at hand.
The pole is 13 m long, with a stated pole weight of 976 g and a transport length of 187 cm.
The GX3 package consists of:
- A 13 m GX3 pole with two mini-extensions.
- Four Match Top 4 kits.
- One Cupping Top 4 kit.
- Five Monobloc tops.
- A Supera X Holdall.
GX2: all-round for pace and larger fish
The GX2 is designed as a versatile competition pole, from fast fishing to targeting larger fish species. Here too, a well-balanced pole is central. The package includes Match Top 3 kits and a matching Cupping Top 3 kit, instead of the longer Top 4 kits in the GX3 package.
The pole is 13 m long, with a stated pole weight of 1,005 g and a transport length of 187 cm.
The GX2 package consists of:
- A 13 m GX2 pole with two mini-extensions.
- Three Match Top 3 kits.
- One Cupping Top 3 kit.
- Four Monobloc tops.
- A Supera X Holdall.
GXM: light and stiff for fast fishing
The GXM is the shorter pole within this family. It has been developed for fast fishing at medium range, where low weight and high stiffness are important.
The pole is 10 m long, with a stated pole weight of 607 g and a transport length of 167 cm.
The GXM package consists of:
- A 10 m GXM pole with one mini-extension.
- Two Match Top 2 kits.
- One Cupping Top 2 kit.
- A holdall.
Compatibility with the Euro Match family
Preston states compatibility with the previous Euro Match poles and the current STR and MCX ranges. This is relevant when upgrading from one of these ranges and wanting to continue using existing components. The cupping kits in the packages are intended for accurately placing Groundbait on your swim; the Match kits are used for your rigs.
The separate Power kit and matching Power Section 3 are not included in the package lists above. Do not confuse these accessories with the supplied Match kits.
Support when shipping
When shipping, a Preston Inception Super Pro XL shipping roller supports the pole sections behind you. The centre roller is useful when shipping the pole in two sections side by side.
Safe use: carbon conducts electricity. Keep these poles away from overhead power lines and do not use them during thunderstorms.
