Description

Matrix X-Stretch Top and Tail Rod Bands

The Matrix X-Stretch Top and Tail Rod Bands keep a rigged rod securely together during transport while protecting the vulnerable tip and butt section. The set consists of two thick neoprene protectors that fit over both ends of the broken-down rod. This prevents the sections from lying loose against each other in the rod holdall and reduces the risk of knocks, scratches and damaged rod rings.

The adjustable elastic connecting strap makes the system suitable for rods with different transport lengths. After breaking down the rod, place the wide protectors over the tip and butt section, then adjust the tension until the sections stay firmly together without putting unnecessary strain on the blank. This is particularly useful when transporting rigged feeder or float rods and reassembling them quickly at the waterside.

Matrix developed these Top and Tail Rod Bands for rods with an assembled length of approximately 2.7 to 4.3 metres. Thanks to the combination of shock-absorbing neoprene and an elastic, adjustable connection, the set provides a simple extra layer of protection in a rod holdall or on a transport trolley.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the bands while the rod is still rigged?

Yes. They are specifically designed to safely break down and hold together a rigged rod. Make sure the line does not get trapped under the neoprene edge, and remove a heavy feeder or rig if it could knock against the blank during transport.

How tight should I adjust the elastic strap?

Tight enough to prevent the rod sections from shifting, but not so tight that the blank visibly bends. Also check that the rod rings are not pressing directly against each other.

Does this system replace a rod holdall?

No. The bands keep the rod sections together and protect the ends, but a properly padded rod holdall remains recommended for full protection against knocks and pressure during transport.
