Pate 1b Barbless

The Fun Fishing Pate 1b Barbless is a strong, barbless eyed hook specially shaped for fishing with paste. The wide gape leaves room for a generous ball of paste and helps keep the hook point clear, allowing you to strike effectively even with soft or bulky bait.

The heavy-gauge hook wire is designed to handle the powerful fights of large carp. The Black & Gold finish combines a discreet matte-black hook with a sharp gold-coloured point. This model is therefore focused on both strength and a neat presentation on commercial fisheries and carpodromes.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a paste hook have a wide gape?

The wide gape gives the ball of paste enough space without completely covering the hook point. This keeps the presentation compact and allows the hook to take hold properly on a bite.

When should I use a bait spring with this hook?

A bait spring is useful when the paste is soft, slips off the hook quickly or needs extra support during casting. The spring gives the paste more grip without having to make a firmer mix.

Is this hook suitable for large carp?

Yes. The Pate 1b has a strong construction for powerful carp. Always match the chosen size, line diameter and elastic strength to the fish size and risk of snags.
