Wide Gape Pellet Barbless – Barbless Hook 🎁

Drennan Wide Gape Pellet Barbless – hook for soft pellets

The Drennan Wide Gape Pellet Barbless is a barbless spade-end hook designed for commercial fishing with soft pellets. The wide crystal bend provides plenty of room for the bait and helps keep the hook point clear, allowing bites to be converted efficiently into a secure hook hold.

The medium-length shank and long, chemically etched needle point offer a good combination of bait control and fast hooking. The hook is forged for extra strength and has a subtle bronze finish. In addition to soft pellets, this versatile pattern can also be used with expander pellets, maggots, casters and small pieces of sweetcorn or meat. For ready-to-use rigs, matching Drennan Wide Gape Pellet Barbless 15 cm hooklengths are available.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the wide hook bend useful with soft pellets?
The wide bend leaves space between the bait and the hook point. This keeps the point clearer and allows the hook to take hold more easily when a fish bites.

Can I use this hook with other baits as well?
Yes. This pattern also works well with expander pellets, maggots, casters, sweetcorn and small pieces of meat. Choose the hook size in proportion to the size and weight of the bait.

How can I prevent a soft pellet from being damaged when hooking it?
Use a pellet that is firm enough and carefully insert the hook through the outer edge without compressing the bait. If the pellet is very soft, a fine baiting needle or another attachment method may help.
