The Drennan AS1 Pole Float is a sensitive yet strong carp float for F1s and smaller carp on commercial fisheries. The slim balsa body and 1.5 mm hollow Glow Tip offer minimal resistance, ensuring even cautious bites remain clearly visible.

The resilient 0.6 mm stainless-steel stem acts as a stable keel. It is only partially glued into the body, allowing the float to retain its balanced performance and high buoyancy without unnecessary weight. The strong construction was developed together with five-time world champion Alan Scotthorne and is designed for intensive carp fishing.

Use soft, suitably sized float silicone tubing to mount the metal stem securely yet adjustably on the line. Match the shotting pattern to your fishing: spread out for a natural bait fall, or more compact when the bait needs to reach depth faster and more steadily.

Why is the stem only partially glued into the body?

This gives the float better balance and allows the balsa body to retain maximum buoyancy. The construction adds less unnecessary weight than a stem that runs all the way through into the tip.

What bait is the 1.5 mm Glow Tip suitable for?

The relatively fine, hollow tip is suitable for subtly presented pellets, maggots, casters and smaller pieces of sweetcorn. It provides sufficient visibility without losing the sensitive bite detection needed for F1s and smaller carp.

How does the float eye protect the line?

The eye consists of a fully round, double-wound loop. This prevents the line from easily becoming trapped in an open U-shape, while its position at the base of the tip prevents the float body from being pierced.
