Acolyte Gripper Barbed - 6" Hook Plate System

The Drennan Acolyte Gripper Barbed Hook Plate hooklengths are strong, ready-made 15 cm rigs for larger baits and powerful fish. The barbed Gripper hook has a wide gape and is the strongest pattern in the Acolyte range, making it suitable for demanding fishing and hard fights.

Each hook is hand-tied to supple Acolyte Fluorocarbon. This material is unobtrusive underwater and helps present pellets, sweetcorn, meat, a bunch of maggots or worms naturally. The hooklengths are held under light tension on a flat Hook Plate, keeping them straight and ready for use without kinks.

Frequently asked questions

When should I choose the Acolyte Gripper?

Choose this pattern when targeting strong fish with slightly larger baits and you need extra hook strength. For a lighter presentation with small natural baits, a finer Maggot Plus or Silverfish pattern is more suitable.

Which baits suit these hooklengths?

The wide gape provides room for pellets, sweetcorn, meat, a bunch of maggots and worms. Always keep the hook point exposed to avoid hindering the hook-up.

Why is Fluorocarbon useful here?

Acolyte Fluorocarbon is supple and unobtrusive underwater. This allows the bait to be presented neatly without losing the strength required for this type of fishing.

How do I store the Hook Plates?

The rigs can be stored directly on the flat plate. The plates are also designed for the Drennan Hook Book and matching Hook Box, where the hooklengths remain organised and straight.
