Premium Coarse Pellets for method feeder and coarse fish

Premium Coarse Pellets are an excellent choice when you want to create an active feeding spot for bream, roach, tench, F1 and other coarse fish. By adding the right amount of moisture, the pellets bind well in a method feeder or pellet feeder. Once on the bottom, they break down again and release the groundbait particles.

How do you prepare Premium Coarse Pellets?

Gradually add a small amount of water, optionally using a bait sprayer. Mix the pellets thoroughly and allow the moisture to soak in briefly. This prevents them from becoming too wet or mushy. Repeat if necessary until the pellets bind well enough to stay in the method feeder, while still breaking down easily on contact with water.

Always work in small steps. You can always add more water, but drying pellets that are too wet is much more difficult.

Premium Carp Pellets: a versatile all-rounder

Premium Carp Pellets are versatile for feeder fishing and pond fishing. The smaller variants are suitable for building a compact, subtle feeding spot, while larger diameters can be used more selectively.

The 2 mm variant is particularly interesting when you want to offer small feed particles. This is useful for cautious fish, cold water or when you want to keep fish on the spot for a long time without filling them up too quickly.

Premium Select (Halibut): strong attraction for larger fish

Premium Select (Halibut) has a distinct halibut profile and is suitable for anglers looking for a powerful, nutritious pellet. Depending on the diameter chosen, you can use it for feeding or present the pellet as hookbait.

Premium Select can be used for:

  • building a highly attractive feeding spot;
  • feeder and method feeder fishing for larger coarse fish;
  • more selective fishing for larger specimens;
  • topping up on ponds and match waters.

The larger Premium Select pellets in 14 and 20 mm can also be used as hookbait when targeting large carp.

Red Premium Select: halibut pellets with krill attractant

Red Premium Select also belongs to the halibut pellet range. This red version stands out due to its added krill attractant. The colour and scent create a highly visible feeding signal, making these pellets ideal when you want to attract fish quickly.

You can use Red Premium Select on its own or combine it with other pellets to create more variation in colour, scent and breakdown speed.

Pre-drilled Halibut Pellets for hair-rig use

The Pre-drilled Black Halibut Pellets are similar to the large halibut pellets, but already have a pre-drilled hole. This allows you to easily attach the 8, 14 and 20 mm versions to a hair without having to drill through the hard pellet yourself.

A Pre-drilled Red Halibut version is also available. This allows you to choose between a dark halibut profile or a red pellet with extra visual attraction.

The larger 14 and 20 mm sizes are particularly suitable when targeting large carp selectively.

1.5 mm Intensiv Micro Pellets

1.5 mm Intensiv Micro Pellets are ideal when you want to offer lots of extremely small feed particles. Their fine size allows them to spread nicely around the hook bait and keep fish occupied without immediately offering too much food.

Use these micro pellets in a method mix, combined with groundbait or as a fine base for an active feeding spot.

Coppens Intensiv Pellets for intensive feeding

In addition to the micro version, regular Coppens Intensiv Pellets are available in sizes from 3 to 9 mm. These nutritious pellets were originally developed for carp farming. This makes them particularly suitable when you want to feed fish regularly or in larger quantities.

You can use Coppens Intensiv Pellets for:

  • supplementary feeding of carp in ponds;
  • building and maintaining a feeding spot;
  • intensive feeding during carp competitions;
  • match fishing where you want to keep fish on the spot for longer;
  • use as an addition to a pellet or groundbait mix.

The larger diameters can also be used as hook bait with a bait band. This allows you to feed and fish with the same pellet, creating a natural and recognisable bait presentation.

Match RS Expander Pellets as soft hook bait

Feed pellets and hook pellets do not always have the same properties. If you want to use a soft pellet directly on the hook, you need a pellet that softens without immediately breaking apart. Such a soft hook pellet is also known as an expander.

Match RS Expander Pellets are originally floating pellets. With a pellet pump, you can make them absorb water, causing them to sink while becoming soft and supple. This keeps them firm enough to place directly on the hook, while still feeling natural to the fish.

These pellets are particularly suitable for:

  • direct use on the hook;
  • pole fishing;
  • feeder fishing;
  • a subtle presentation for coarse fish, bream and F1 carp.

Which pellet diameter should you choose?

The right diameter depends on the fish species, water temperature and the amount of feed you want to offer:

  • 1.5 to 2 mm: subtle feeding, method mixes and small feed particles.
  • 3 to 4.5 mm: all-round feeder fishing and coarse fishing.
  • 6 to 9 mm: larger fish, topping up and use with a bait band.
  • 14 to 20 mm: selective feeding or hookbait for large carp.
  • 28 mm Giant Pellets: highly selective fishing for large fish.

Can you mix different Coppens pellets?

Yes. Mixing different diameters and compositions creates a baited area that does not break down all at once. Small pellets provide quick attraction, while larger pellets remain longer. This ensures there is something to find on the spot for an extended period.

Choose carefully. A large amount of nutritious pellets can quickly fill fish up. Start with a limited amount and top up based on bites and activity on your spot.

Common mistakes when using pellets

  • Using too much water: moisten gradually, preferably with a bait sprayer.
  • Overfeeding: adjust the amount to fish activity and water temperature.
  • Choosing too large a diameter: small pellets often keep fish feeding for longer.
  • Simply putting a feed pellet on the hook: use an expander for a soft hookbait presentation, or choose a larger pellet with a bait band or hair rig.
  • Selecting by smell alone: size, colour, hardness and breakdown speed also determine the result.

Conclusion: choose the pellet that suits your approach

There is no single Coppens pellet that is always the best choice. Premium Coarse is excellent for method feeder fishing, Premium Carp is versatile, Premium Select and Red Premium Select offer a strong halibut profile, Pre-drilled Halibut Pellets are practical for hair rigs, Intensiv is suitable for intensive feeding, and Match RS provides a soft hookbait presentation.
