Aquos Ultra W Rods – Waggler Rods

Matrix Aquos Ultra W Rods – Waggler rods for commercials and natural waters

The Matrix Aquos Ultra W Rods are designed for float anglers fishing with pellet wagglers, insert wagglers, straight wagglers or stick floats. The blank offers enough casting power to place both light floats and heavier distance wagglers accurately, while retaining the cushioning needed to reduce hook pulls during the fight.

Within the range, use the product selector to choose the rod that suits your fishing. The more compact version is aimed at pellet waggler fishing on commercials and for carp, where short to medium casts and direct control are important. The longer version provides extra line control for conventional waggler fishing and is particularly useful when fishing further from the bank or when you want to lift the line off the water surface more effectively.

Lightweight match guides support smooth line flow, while the subtle hook keeper prevents you from having to attach the hook to a guide ring when moving around. The durable cork and EVA handle provides grip in wet weather. For a balanced setup, you can pair the rod with the Matrix Aquos Ultra Reels.

Frequently asked questions

Which version should I choose for pellet waggler fishing for carp?

For compact commercials and short to medium casts, the shorter version is usually the most manoeuvrable. It keeps the setup light and offers plenty of control during the fight. If you fish at greater distance or want more line control, the longer version offers advantages.

Can I also use this rod with light insert wagglers?

Yes. Matrix explicitly states that the range is suitable for light insert wagglers, straight wagglers and stick floats. Match the line diameter and reel size to the float weight so the rod retains its casting performance optimally.

How can I prevent hook pulls when fishing for carp on the pellet waggler?

Do not fully tighten the drag and maintain an even bend in the rod during the fight. Use a line and hook suited to the size of the fish, and avoid sudden pumping movements close to the bank; this is where the blank absorbs the final runs.
