Carp Pellet Pole Rigs

Preston Carp Pellet Pole Rigs

The Preston Carp Pellet Pole Rigs are ready-made pole rigs for fishing for carp with pellets and other firm hook baits. The Carp Pellet float combines a highly visible 2 mm hollow antenna with a flexible NiTi wire stem. This keeps the rig stable, while the antenna provides sufficient buoyancy for pellets, sweetcorn and pieces of meat.

An elongated bulk of Stotz distributes the weight so that lift bites and cautious bites are easier to detect. The 3-metre rig is tied with Preston Reflo Power: 0.17 mm main line and a 0.15 mm hooklength. The barbless size 14 GPM-B hook is suited to pellets of approximately 4 to 8 mm and similar hook baits.

Frequently asked questions

Why does this rig have a 2 mm hollow antenna?
The thicker hollow antenna remains highly visible and carries heavier hook baits without sinking too far. This makes it suitable for pellets, sweetcorn and pieces of meat.

What does the elongated Stotz shotting pattern do?
The distributed shot allows the rig to sink in a controlled manner and makes lift bites or small changes in the float's loading easier to see.

What pellet size is suitable for the mounted hook?
According to Preston, the size 14 GPM-B hook is suitable for pellets of approximately 4 to 8 mm. The chosen bait size should always remain proportionate to the fish and conditions.

What is the benefit of a flexible NiTi stem?
The flexible wire stem can bend during playing and landing fish. This helps limit damage to the float during intensive carp fishing.
