Acolyte Bait Up Rods

The Drennan Acolyte Bait Up Rods are specialised baiting rods for accurately building a baited area with large bait-up feeders. The powerful two-piece blanks are designed to cast fully loaded feeders up to 6 oz (170 g) in a controlled manner, allowing you to quickly deliver a consistent amount of groundbait at the same distance.

The large guides promote smooth line flow and support distance and accuracy during powerful casts. The rods are suitable for nylon main line up to 12 lb or Braided Line up to 30 lb. Each rod is supplied in a padded rod sleeve for protected transport and tidy storage.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I use a separate bait-up rod?

A bait-up rod is built for repeatedly casting large, heavily loaded feeders. This reduces strain on your regular feeder rod and allows you to build your baited area more quickly and with greater control.

Can I use both nylon and braided line?

Yes. Drennan recommends nylon main line up to 12 lb or Braided Line up to 30 lb. Braided line provides direct control, while nylon is slightly more forgiving during powerful casts due to its stretch.

Is this rod intended for fishing after pre-baiting?

The Acolyte Bait Up is primarily a specialised baiting rod. Once the baited area has been established, you would normally switch to your regular feeder rod for bite detection and playing fish.
