The Preston Carp Shallow Pole Rigs are ready-made pole fishing rigs for targeting carp in the upper water layers. They are particularly suitable when fish are feeding shallow, holding along islands or active close to your own bank. The 3-metre rig is built using strong, carefully selected Preston components and can be used immediately once the correct depth has been set.

The Carp Shallow float has a highly visible 2 mm hollow antenna and a robust fibreglass stem. Thanks to the Dura side eye, the float is more resistant to the power of big fish without losing its balance. The compact bulk shotting pattern with Stotz gets the bait quickly to the selected depth and helps distinguish genuine bites from line bites.

Preston Reflo Power is used for both the main line and hooklength. The 0.19 mm main line and 0.17 mm hooklength offer sufficient strength for powerful carp. A size 12 XSH-B hook makes the rig suitable for larger baits including pellets, sweetcorn, meat, worms and paste.

When should you use a Carp Shallow rig?

This rig performs best when carp are feeding off the bottom or just below the surface. Think of fishing against an island, in shallow marginal areas or mid-water during warm, active periods. Set the fishing depth accurately and adjust the line length above the float to suit the conditions.

Which bait is suitable for this rig?

The strong size 12 XSH-B hook is designed for relatively large carp baits, such as pellets, sweetcorn, meat, worms and paste. Choose the bait based on the feeding behaviour and size of the fish in the venue.
