Puller Needle – Baiting Needle

Preston Floater Puller Needle – pulling hair rigs and bait bands through soft hook bait

The Preston Floater Puller Needle is specially designed for conventional hair rigs and soft hook bait. The needle lets you pull the hair through the bait in a controlled manner, without applying more pressure than necessary. You can also use the tool to pull a bait band through soft baits such as sweetcorn or meat.

If you want to attach hook bait directly with an elastic band, combine the needle with suitable Preston Latex Bait Bands. The plastic handle floats, making the tool easier to retrieve if it falls into the water while fishing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a puller needle and a regular baiting needle?

A puller needle is designed for pulling a hair or bait band through soft bait. For very hard bait, first use a suitable drill and then choose a needle that fits the channel created.

How do I pull a bait band through soft hook bait?

Gently insert the needle through the bait, pick up the bait band with the end and pull the elastic band back evenly. Then check that the bait is securely attached without being cut into.

What soft hook bait can I use?

Preston specifically mentions sweetcorn and meat as suitable examples. With other soft baits, the structure must also be firm enough to hold the hair or bait band without falling apart.

What should I do if the needle falls into the water?

The plastic handle floats, allowing you to retrieve the tool quickly. If necessary, rinse it clean, dry it off and store the metal point safely protected.
